Head shot of Catherine Hodgson

Catherine Hodgson

Founder of Clued In Education

Catherine is an educator, writer and advisor specialising in quality vocational education and training.

Through Clued In Education, she works with RTOs across Australia to strengthen training, assessment, workforce capability and quality systems, helping organisations move beyond compliance and towards genuine educational excellence.

With more than 17 years' experience across primary education, adult learning and vocational education, including senior leadership within a CRICOS-registered RTO, Catherine brings together practical operational experience with a deep understanding of regulation, governance and organisational capability.

But what drives her work isn't compliance.

It's a belief that vocational education changes lives, and that trainers, assessors and leaders deserve professional development that helps them think more deeply about their practice. That belief shapes everything she creates, from consultancy and professional development to the articles, videos and practical resources she shares with the sector.

Catherine is particularly interested in the intersection between learning, assessment, leadership and quality. She believes that sustainable compliance is not achieved through more paperwork, but through capable people, thoughtful systems and reflective professional practice.

Her areas of expertise include:

  • Training and assessment practice

  • Workforce capability and professional development

  • Self-assurance and quality systems

  • Governance and organisational oversight

  • Inclusive education and reasonable adjustment

  • Learning design and educational practice

Today, Catherine works with CEOs, executive teams, trainers, assessors and quality professionals across Australia, helping them build confidence in their decisions, strengthen organisational capability and improve learner outcomes.

Catherine believes that the best RTOs aren't the ones that collect the most evidence. They're the ones that ask the best questions.

In the spirit of reconciliation, Clued In Education acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders today.
